Clarkstown North is 2-8 against Tappan Zee since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Rams will challenge the Dutchmen at 11:30 a.m.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Clarkstown North's offense. They lost 8-0 to Clarkstown South on Thursday.
Meanwhile, while Tappan Zee put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Pleasantville. The Dutchmen put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Dutchmen have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Haley Arvidson made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Giuliana Looram, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Chiappa, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs.
Tappan Zee is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Clarkstown North, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Both Clarkstown North and Tappan Zee just can't seem to miss. The Rams have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Tappan Zee struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clarkstown North suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Tappan Zee when the teams last played back in April. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
