Edgar has gone 9-1 against Newman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Fighting Cardinals at 4:45 p.m. Newman took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Edgar, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Edgar beat Neillsville/Granton 6-2.

Lucas Stahnke made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, Edgar let Sawyer Weiland and Gavin Mauer run wild. Weiland went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Mauer went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Mauer has posted since back in May of 2024. Dakota Ellenbecker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Phillips, falling 15-5. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Fighting Cardinals' highest-scoring match to date.
Newman saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quincy Pfender, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Edgar is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Newman, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Newman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Edgar hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. It's a different story for Newman, though, as they've only averaged .200. Will they be able to contain Edgar's hitters?
Edgar took their win against Newman in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
