Mt. Pleasant is 8-1 against Southmoreland since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Vikings will head out to take on the Scotties at 4:00 p.m. Mt. Pleasant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Mt. Pleasant will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Greensburg Salem, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Vikings put the hurt on the Golden Lions with a sharp 17-5 victory on Thursday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Cole Hart tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mt. Pleasant got a massive performance out of Santino Marne, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Marne a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bobby Smithnosky, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Mt. Pleasant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Southmoreland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 12-6 to Uniontown. That's two games in a row now that the Scotties have lost by exactly six runs.
Brendon Geho was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Bentz, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mt. Pleasant has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Southmoreland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Southmoreland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mt. Pleasant has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. It's a different story for Southmoreland, though, as they've only averaged .350. Will they be able to contain Mt. Pleasant's hitters?
