After a string of 15 wins, the Estrella Foothills Wolves's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Deer Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Estrella Foothills in their matchups with Deer Valley: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Estrella Foothills still got an impressive performance from Madison Pond, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Pond has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Alina Bowden was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Estrella Foothills' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-2. As for Deer Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.
Estrella Foothills will take on Cactus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cactus comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Deer Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Agua Fria at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Tami Balogun and Diamond Stevenson.
