The Winfield Generals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Scott, posting a 67-24 victory at home. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Antonela Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew for Winfield as she scored eight points along with eight assists and four steals. It was the first time this season that Johnson posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Cole, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Scott lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kelsey Harper. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with two blocks. That was a full 70.8% of Scott's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Scott struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Winfield racked up 29 assists.
Winfield pushed their record up to 11-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Scott, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.
Winfield will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hoover at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Winfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. Scott will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Sherman at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th.
