You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely The Newcomb Skyhawks''s strategy against the Zuni Thunderbirds on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Newcomb blew Zuni out of the water with a 40-6 final score. The result was nothing new for Newcomb, who have now won three games by 34 points or more so far this season.
Newcomb can attribute much of their success to Dion Lee, who rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Newcomb also got a significant boost from Landon Noble, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
The win makes it two in a row for Newcomb and bumps their season record up to 4-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Zuni, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
