Scio is 0-5 against Taft since March of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Loggers will host the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Scio has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Wednesday, Scio came up short against Rainier and fell 11-7.
Scio saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Flack, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was Flack's first of the season. Evan Slinger was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Taft entered their tilt with Santiam Christian on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since May 20, 2024.
Kai Bayer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Taft pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Scio, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Scio has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Taft struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Scio couldn't quite get it done against Taft in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Will the Loggers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
