Basketball Recap: Golden City Skates Past Sheldon with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Golden City). They blew past the Sheldon Panthers, posting an 84-27 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jamison Menadue was his usual excellent self, putting up 28 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in January. Spencer Parrill was another key player, going 8 of 19 on his way to 18 points and five assists.

Golden City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Golden City's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Sheldon, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden City will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hurley at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Golden City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. Sheldon also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Humansville at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
