This season hasn't been kind to the Calhoun Red Devils, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were dealt a 78-32 loss at the hands of Roane County on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calhoun in their matchups with Roane County: they've now lost three in a row.
Roane County can attribute much of their success to Hope Mason, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Mason scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Braylin Bowe, who scored 12 points along with five assists.
Calhoun bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Roane County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Calhoun will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Webster County at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Roane County will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Parkersburg Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Parkersburg Catholic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
