The North Augusta Yellow Jackets are taking a road trip to face off against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with North Augusta sitting on three straight victories and Gray Collegiate Academy on five.
On Monday, North Augusta was able to grind out a solid win over Airport, taking the game 4-1.
Eleanor Brummond looked comfortable as she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emily Geddes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Gray Collegiate Academy won against Aiken on Friday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Gray Collegiate Academy didn't even let South Aiken on the board, marking Gray Collegiate Academy's second-straight 13-0 shutout. The War Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.
Maliah Wright was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Kaylan Boudreau was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
Gray Collegiate Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Gray Collegiate Academy pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Augusta, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
North Augusta came up short against Gray Collegiate Academy in their previous meeting last Monday, falling 9-6. Can North Augusta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
