The Minor Tigers won the last time they faced the Center Point Eagles, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Minor claimed a resounding 69-41 win over Center Point on the road. Given Minor's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Center Point is ranked 346th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Minor's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Grice, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Carmelo Burroughs, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Minor and bumps their season record up to 12-3. As for Center Point, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Minor will finish 2023 at home by hosting Shelby County at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th. Shelby County is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Center Point won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fairfield at 1:30 p.m. on December 20th.
