River Valley recap Nov. 7, 2012
Norte Vista extended the longest winning streak in River Valley this week by beating Patriot, 24-16. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Moreno Valley moved up to 361 from 413 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings were able to make move up by topping La Sierra 30-6.
Ramona's dynamic duo of Damon Mayes and Henry Batista proved tough for Jurupa Valley to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mayes threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns and Batista had 89 yards receiving. Mozais Smotherman helped Ramona's passing attack out by catching two balls for 64 yards.
JALIN BURRELL was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 144 yards on 24 carries as the Warriors fell to the Jaguars. JD HERNANDEZ also contributed to the rushing game with 110 yards on the ground.
Ramona's Mayes and Smotherman have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading River Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Mayes has thrown for 1136 yards this season, while Smotherman, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 28 catches for 364 yards. Patriot's HERNANDEZ leads the league in rushing yards with 798.
Moreno Valley took down the Eagles 30-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dane Wadkins threw for 100 yards and one touchdown in the win.
