Softball Recap: Deer Valley Gets the Win

Deer Valley proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Poston Butte Broncos 2-1. The Skyhawks haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Adyson Ordway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Deer Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leila Hermosillo, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Deer Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Poston Butte, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deer Valley will welcome Prescott at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Poston Butte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Apache Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Poston Butte's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Apache Junction's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
