Baseball Recap: Tolleson Beats Basha for Their Third Straight Victory

Tolleson barely beat Basha the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Friday. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Tolleson got a great performance from DIEGO SERNA as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over 6.2 innings pitched. SERNA has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on JOSE CORRALES, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Tolleson is undefeated when CORRALES posts two or more runs, but 4-8-1 otherwise. DIEGO VELAZQUEZ was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

The victory (which was Tolleson's third in a row) raised their record to 11-8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Basha, they dropped their record down to 8-9-1 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tolleson will square off against Apollo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Basha, they will venture away from home to challenge Perry at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
