The Pine Knights typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the John Carroll Catholic Rams proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged the Knights out 50-47. That result was just more of the same for these two, as John Carroll Catholic also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2020.
Leading John Carroll Catholic to victory were Pat Silas and Collin Jefferson. Silas scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Jefferson almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jefferson pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Johnson, who scored seven points.
John Carroll Catholic's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Pine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Carroll Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Lincoln Park Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Pine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cobras at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
