Meanwhile, Pope County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 59-19 win over Gallatin County. Considering Pope County has won nine matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Pope County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ahry Comer led the charge by scoring 17 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Comer is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Hogg, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Joppa-Maple Grove's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pope County, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Joppa-Maple Grove was dealt a bruising 64-9 defeat at the hands of Pope County in their previous meeting back in November. Can Joppa-Maple Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
