Basketball Recap: Primero Piles Up the Points Against Moffat

Primero won the last time they faced Moffat and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cowboys 44-16. The team accrued 32 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Primero's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabela Maldonado, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Maldonado is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaelie Bowie, who posted seven points and ten boards.

Primero smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They are a perfect 3-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.

When it comes to explaining why Moffat lost, don't look at Shelby Morley. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Primero's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.3 points on average over those games. As for Moffat, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Primero and Moffat will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Bulldogs see the court they'll take on Kim/Branson at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2026. As for Moffat, their break will end when they face Lake City Community at 4:30 p.m. on January 8, 2026.
