The Jefferson Academy Jaguars won the last time they faced the Bennett Tigers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Jefferson Academy came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 43-34.
Jefferson Academy can attribute much of their success to Rylin Chichirico, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Chichirico is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Emma Parker was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Bennett's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jessica Venneberg, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Lily Venneberg who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That was a full 35.3% of Bennett's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Schroeder, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Bennett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson Academy only pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Jefferson Academy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-5. As for Bennett, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-2.
