The Frontier Academy Wolverines waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 61-50 win over Valley. That's another feather in the cap for Frontier Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jackson Steward continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Frontier Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cy Lowery, who scored eight points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Brownell. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. Brownell is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Daniel Guerrero was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Frontier Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Valley, they bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frontier Academy will take on Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Allowing an average of 54.9 points per game, Brush has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game. As for Valley, they will be playing at home against Timnath at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Timnath focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Monday.
