Roosevelt had won four straight games and Ehis Idoni did his part to make it five on Friday. The Rough Riders breezed past the Torres Toros to the tune of 46-14 for which the team can thank Idoni, who rushed for 206 yards and four scores on only 13 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Roosevelt's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Julian Maldonado was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Torres, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Roosevelt wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-0 win against Sunnyside on the 2nd. As for Torres, they will venture away from home to square off against McLane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Highlanders' defense has only allowed 3.4 points per game this season, so the Toros' offense will have their work cut out for them.
