The Vandercook Lake Jayhawks are on the road again on Monday and plays the Homer Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Vandercook Lake was beaten by the Comets 77-41. While losing is never fun, Vandercook Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while the Comets are ranked 268th).
Meanwhile, Homer's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Columbia Central, falling 71-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Homer has scored all season.
Vandercook Lake dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Homer, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Vandercook Lake strolled past the Trojans in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 64-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vandercook Lake since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
