Softball Recap: Red Bud Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

After only one run in their last match, Red Bud made sure to put some runs up on the board against Tuscola on Saturday. The Musketeers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Warriors. The Musketeers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Kendra Ehret spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julia Whelan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Peyton Kreher was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Red Bud kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tuscola only managed six hits.

Red Bud is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Tuscola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Red Bud and Tuscola better get some defensive drills in before they play next: their upcoming opponents both sport some potent offenses. The Musketeers will face off against Crab Orchard at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, a team that's put up 6.74 6.74 runs per game. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Red Bud 3.8, the Trojans 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Tuscola will collide with Hamilton County and their lofty 8.72 8.72 runs per game at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
