Softball Recap: Augusta Christian Takes a Loss

Augusta Christian dropped their record down to 7-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 8-0 to the Heathwood Hall Episcopal Highlanders. The Lions were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Highlanders' pitchers proved too tough.

Heathwood Hall Episcopal's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 12, 2024 (when they won 18-3).

For Heathwood Hall Episcopal's part, Salley Humphries made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Humphries has posted since back in February of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Heathwood Hall Episcopal let Chloe Rosenbaum and Frances Laughlin run wild. Rosenbaum went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Laughlin got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Mamie Biel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Coming up, Augusta Christian will take on Jefferson Davis Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Heathwood Hall Episcopal, they will square off against American Leadership Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
