Nicholas Portillo and Adam Cain provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Chowchilla. The connection was good for 70 yards, the longest such play in East Sequoia this season.
Lindsay moved up to 768 from 826 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 33-12 win over Farmersville helped the Cardinals improve their standing.
Lindsay's dynamic duo of Alex Jara and Randall LeBlanc proved tough for the Aztecs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jara threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns and LeBlanc had 83 yards receiving. Gaven Mann helped Lindsay's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.
Kaleb Toone was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 226 yards as Corcoran defeated Farmersville. Portillo also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
Erik Aviles made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers lost to the Redskins. The 5-foot-6 senior grabbed one sack.
Corcoran's Portillo and Cain have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading East Sequoia in both passing and receiving yards. Portillo has thrown for 334 yards this season, while Cain, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has six catches for 126 yards. Strathmore's Cody Styles leads the league in rushing yards with 880.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Woodlake takes on second place Strathmore. Woodlake last week, while the Spartans.
