Baseball Recap: Cedar Creek Has No Trouble Against Buena

Cedar Creek has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.07 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. Everything went their way against the Buena Chiefs as they made off with a 20-10 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

JJ Watkins was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Scholder, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Cedar Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Cedar Creek and bumps their season record up to 11-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.5 runs over those games. As for Buena, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-8.

Cedar Creek will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chiefs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
