After flying high against the Toll Gate Titans last Thursday, the Middletown Islanders came back down to earth. Middletown was outmatched by Lincoln on the road and fell 81-47. While losing is never fun, Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Lincoln is ranked first).
Lincoln's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Bergeron, who scored 22 points. The matchup was Bergeron's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Camden Dichiara, who scored 21 points.
Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Lincoln, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing St. Raphael Academy the next time they take the court. Middletown will host St. Raphael Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Lincoln will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th.
