Floyd Central has gone a perfect 3-0 against West Washington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Senators at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Floyd Central's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Madison. The victory was familiar territory for the Highlanders, who have now won ten games in a row.
Emmy Miller looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aubrey Duckworth was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kaeden Stewart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, West Washington got the win against Mitchell on Monday by a conclusive 15-1. The win continues a trend for the Senators in their matchups with the Bluejackets: they've now won nine in a row.
Alaina Schmidt and Macy Lowery did most of the damage at the plate: Schmidt went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple, while Lowery went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Schmidt has posted since back in April. Julia Houchin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
West Washington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.
Floyd Central's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for West Washington, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Floyd Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like West Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
