The Bayfield Wolverines fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 55-44 victory over Ignacio on Saturday. This was payback for Bayfield, who suffered a 41-33 loss the last time these two teams met.
Bayfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Rodrick, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodrick has scored all season. Lincoln Williams was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on ten points, nine rebounds, and nine steals.
Bayfield's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Ignacio, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayfield will take on the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centauri presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Wolverines in Colorado (the Falcons are ranked 83rd, while the Wolverines are ranked 292nd). As for Ignacio, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.
