The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Calvary Christian Academy came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 40th in Delaware, while Worcester Prep is ranked 172nd in Maryland).
The losing side was boosted by Diaya Armantrading, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Leia Sensenig (HS), who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Faith Baptist School put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 32-18 win over Bayview Christian.
Faith Baptist School relied on the efforts of Kiersten Yates HS, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Nevina Jenkins HS, who scored five points along with seven steals. Jenkins HS is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Calvary Christian Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Faith Baptist School, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Calvary Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Faith Baptist School, though, as they've been averaging only 35.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Calvary Christian Academy's way against Faith Baptist School in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as Calvary Christian Academy made off with a 44-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calvary Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
