St. Clair moved up to 49 from 97 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Macomb Area - Gold. The Saints climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Melvindale 40-14.
Marine City extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Detroit Country Day, 33-28. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Mariners.
Marine City's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alex Merchant threw for 167 and 2 touchdowns and Pete Patsalis had 97 yards receiving. On the ground Jarrett Mathision chipped in 182 yards. Mathision helped Marine City's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 64 yards.
Mathision provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Ron Glodich's team defeated the Yellowjackets. Mathision's favorite target this week was Patsalis, who caught 7 passes for 97 yards.
Patsalis was the best receiver in the league this week as the Mariners bested Detroit Country Day. Mathision helped Marine City's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 64 yards.
Marine City's Merchant and Patsalis have formed a dream team this season, leading Macomb Area - Gold in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Merchant has thrown for 1,582 yards this season, while Patsalis has 36 catches for 978 yards. Brandon Stevenson from Marysville leads the league in rushing with 1,159 yards.
Patsalis of the the Mariners' is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 22 receiving yards in this week's game against Sexton to get there. So far this year, he has garnered 36 catches for 978 yards.
St. Clair took down the Cardinals 40-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
