The Leipsic Vikings had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past Elmwood with points to spare, taking the game 67-49. Given Leipsic's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Elmwood is ranked 537th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leipsic can attribute much of their success to Ty Lammers, who scored 17 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lammers has scored at least 25% of Leipsic's points. Another player making a difference was Jayce Brecht, who scored ten points.
Leipsic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Elmwood, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Leipsic and Lincolnview will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Elmwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Arcadia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
