The Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers fell victim to the Chattanooga Central Pounders''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Pounders, falling 42-0. Howard Tech's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.
Landon Dowdy threw for 54 yards on three of eight attempts. Ke'Shawn Suttles was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Ronye Watson had an outrageously good game for Chattanooga Central as he rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.
Howard Tech's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.4 points per game. As for Chattanooga Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Howard Tech will take on Ooltewah at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ooltewah has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 18th. As for Chattanooga Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McMinn Central on Thursday. McMinn Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
