The Mulvane Wildcats will face off against the Winfield Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mulvane is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Six must be Mulvane's lucky number: they beat Wellington with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Crusaders, sneaking past 6-5. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Mulvane got a great performance from Gracie Warner as she didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, Mulvane let Olivia Ellis and Bailey Hall run wild. Ellis went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Hall went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaryn Baker, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Winfield got the win against North on Thursday by a conclusive 24-12. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.
The team relied heavily on Brooklynn Mortimer, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, five stolen bases, and eight RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma DeLong, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI.
Winfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. They got seven more hits than North's also-impressive total of 17.
Mulvane pushed their record up to 9-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Winfield, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Everything went Mulvane's way against Winfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Mulvane made off with a 17-1 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
