Softball Recap: Powhatan Wins Going Away Against Monacan

Powhatan came out on top against Monacan on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Indians were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Chiefs. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won five in a row.

Brooklyn Narbut spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Myers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Cassidy Moser also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Powhatan's record now sits at 6-4. As for Monacan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Powhatan will face off against rival Cosby at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3.5, the Titans 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Monacan is set to challenge their familiar foe Clover Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
