It was a good run, but the Rock Church Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Life Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rock Church has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Rock Church still got an impressive performance from Miles Dawkins, who scored 25 points along with five assists and three steals. Dawkins hasn't dropped below 18 points for nine straight games. Christian Johnson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
New Life Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dontrel Lee out in front who scored 29 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least a third of New Life Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Dunn, who scored 18 points.
Rock Church's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for New Life Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Rock Church will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Victory Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for New Life Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethel Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
