Buchanan has gone a perfect 4-0 against Centennial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Hawks at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Buchanan 3.3, Centennial 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Buchanan's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clovis East on Tuesday. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brooklyn Ainsworth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Meanwhile, Centennial earned a 5-2 win over Frontier on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Hawks.
Centennial also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Madison Cabrera gave up just two earned runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Lundyn Harrison was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alicia Tackitt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Buchanan, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Buchanan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Buchanan beat Centennial 6-1 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Golden Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
