Lord Botetourt came out on top against Staunton River on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Cavaliers blew past the Golden Eagles 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Garrett Lonker was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Noah Donaho and Isaac Nichols did most of the damage at the plate: Donaho went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Nichols went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That's the most hits Nichols has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brady Kish, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Lord Botetourt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Hidden Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Lord Botetourt, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
