Baseball Game Preview: Manteo Redskins vs. Holmes Aces

The Manteo Redskins will take on the Holmes Aces at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Manteo will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

If Manteo beats Holmes with 12 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Manteo blew past Holmes 12-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Redskins have won three games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Drew Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Austin Godfrey and Mason McCord did most of the damage at the plate: Godfrey scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3, while McCord scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave McCord a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Tanner Sawyer, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Manteo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Holmes' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Manteo, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
