The Marianapolis Prep Golden Knights will face off against the Greenwich Country Day Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Marianapolis Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Berwick Academy get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Knights have posted since May 20, 2024.

Nick Vanfleet tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
At the plate, Marianapolis Prep's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Boris Valdez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Valdez has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Greenwich Country Day won against Wooster on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out King 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Landon Ristau looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Greenwich Country Day's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Walker Laitala was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Steel, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Greenwich Country Day's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Marianapolis Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-11.
