Independence can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak. They blew past Varnado 28-0 on Friday. The squad ran away with 21 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win.
The victory bumped Independence's record up to 2-6. Varnado's defeat makes it five in a row and drags their record down to an identical 2-6.
The Tigers will take on St. Helena College and Career Academy at 7 p.m. ET next week. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 48 minutes: the MaxPreps rankings predict a close match. As for Varnado, they will face off against Pine at 7 p.m. ET. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, the Wildcats now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.
