The Alexandria-Monroe Tigers will square off against the Madison-Grant Argylls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Alexandria-Monroe barely beat Tipton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won nine in a row.
Grayson Gaines looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Alexandria-Monroe let Mason Fuller and Owen May run wild. Fuller got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while May got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs May has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Smith, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Alexandria-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tipton only posted an OBP of .263.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Madison-Grant, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Marion 15-9 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Argylls considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Luke Nelson looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Xavier Yeagy was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Madison-Grant: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brock Barnhart, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Madison-Grant's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alexandria-Monroe has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Alexandria-Monroe came up short against Madison-Grant in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
