Woodson is 2-8 against Jackson-Reed since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Woodson Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Jackson-Reed Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Woodson has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Jackson-Reed will arrive with 15 straight wins.
Last Wednesday, Woodson came up short against McKinley Tech and fell 55-44. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woodson in their matchups with McKinley Tech: they've now lost four in a row.
In what's become a running theme this season, Jackson-Reed gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They blew past Anacostia 81-25 on the road. Given Jackson-Reed's advantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Anacostia is ranked 35th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodson's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Jackson-Reed, their win bumped their record up to 28-2.
Woodson took a serious blow against Jackson-Reed in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 73-32. Can Woodson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
