Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Sulligent

Sulligent entered their tilt with Gordo on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Green Wave. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ella Wheeler made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kaylee Crawford was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Claire Baughn, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Sulligent's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Gordo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Looking ahead, Sulligent will take on South Lamar at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gordo, they will face off against Lamar County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
