It was a good run, but The Cypress Creek Coyotes unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Zephyrhills 63-35. Cypress Creek has struggled against Zephyrhills recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Cypress Creek still got an impressive performance from Jack Niemann, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 153 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Malachi Askin, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown.
Tristan Lennon had a dynamite game for Zephyrhills, rushing for 226 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Lennon's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Smith, who rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Cypress Creek's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Zephyrhills, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Creek will square off against River Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Zephyrhills, they will head out on the road to face off against Dunnellon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dunnellon will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
