Basketball Game Preview: Fike Demons vs. C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons

Fike hasn't had much luck against C.B. Aycock recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fike Demons will look to defend their home court against the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Fike's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Fike took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Smithfield-Selma 87-41. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Fike had a senior duo take command as Brayden Jones went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points and three steals and William Monk almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The game was Monk's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Loftin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Fike was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, C.B. Aycock blew past South Johnston, posting a 60-32 victory.

C.B. Aycock's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Fike, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Fike was able to grind out a solid victory over C.B. Aycock when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 51-44. Will Fike repeat their success, or does C.B. Aycock have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
