The Blue River Valley Vikings's game on Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They snuck past Knightstown with a 45-40 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Blue River Valley, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Maciah Driskill continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Driskill set a new season high mark in steals with seven. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Gibson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Knightstown saw an underclassman step up: Lilly Drew scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Drew's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Anna Roberson, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Blue River Valley now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Knightstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue River Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cowan at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Cowan has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Knightstown, they will head out on the road to face off against Union City at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
