The Liberty Patriots had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Hazen 56-29 at home. For Liberty, this counts as revenge for the 40-36 loss Hazen walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
When it comes to explaining why Hazen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Makenna Garrett. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia McCarthy, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Liberty's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Hazen, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Sammamish at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sammamish focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Hazen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newport - Bellevue at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
