In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Nunez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nathan Silverstein, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
River Dell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Paramus Catholic hit Westwood with a six-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paladins. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westwood also got a good showing from Cooper Smith, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Smith has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Charles Sarlo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Steve Klein was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for River Dell, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
