The Ganado Hornets will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Round Valley Elks at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Ganado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 45 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Ganado, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-44 loss to Snowflake. While losing is never fun, Ganado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Snowflake is ranked 70th).
Despite the defeat, Ganado got a solid performance out of Wyatt James, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Oraias Begay, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Round Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 58-32 margin over St. Johns. The win made it back-to-back wins for Round Valley.
Ganado's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-5. As for Round Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Ganado was taken down by Round Valley 58-23 when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Can Ganado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
