The Victory Christian Academy Knights were the 56-36 winner over the Calvin Christian Crusaders when they last played one another back in August of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Victory Christian Academy ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-22 walloping at the hands of Calvin Christian on Friday.
Austin Dill and Isaiah Owens, Victory Christian Academy certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Dill threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns, while Owens picked up 129 receiving yards. Owens was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards.
Among those leading the charge was Blake Elders, who rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Cole Souders also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Victory Christian Academy's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-0 Flintridge Prep and 7-1 Hesperia Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 84.4% over those games). As for Calvin Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian Academy will take on Coastal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calvin Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against St. Joseph Academy at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (St. Joseph Academy is ranked 14th, while Calvin Christian is ranked 23rd).
